Super Tuesday Primary Results, Winners and Losers

Special Media Edition For Elections In 24 States
Voters get results from primaries and caucuses in 24 states Tuesday night. (State by state numbers here as results come in.) As that happens, many in the media will come up winners… while others fall short as losers in this heated election season.
WINNERS ON ELECTION NIGHT
Cable News – This is a ‘made for cable’ event. Expect all nets to pull in big numbers!
FOX News – The number one cable net will stay that way thanks to the spin and power of the ‘no spin’ network.
CNN – While likely number two for the night, the election season has given CNN solid footing… at a time when the first cable news network was nearly knocked off balance.
Bloggers – This is their marathon! The race is just beginning.
YouTube – The best and worst of everything election night will be loaded online for everyone to grab the code and remember for a long while to come.
Charlie Gibson – ABC is handing over three hours in prime time for him to showcase his incredible control and perspective. Neither Brian Williams or Katie Couic will have such a chance.

LOSERS ON ELECTION NIGHT
Local TV news – They will be shut out again because this is a national race. Viewers know a local station is only a fraction of the equation. Their state results are only a frame of the big picture.
Online news sites – This is a ‘made for TV event’ Tuesday night. WEDNESDAY will be the big day on the web.
MSNBC (the network)– For all of its trying, the net will remain in third place. It’s a shame with Tom Brokaw and Tim Russert as part of their coverage.
Katie Couric – No matter how she performs, every media outlet that reviews CBS will lug along the massive baggage she’s created in her short stay at CBS. Many will question whether the end for her reign will come after November.
Newspaers like the New York Times – TV Tuesday night and web Wednesday morning will make the print editions feel older than ever before.
