Hillary Clinton’s Worst Nightmare: Bill Clinton

His 'Shame On You' Comment Is Stealing Too Many Headlines From Her!

SUNDAY UPDATE: I hate to say, "I told you so." But all of the analysts are now jumping on the bandwagon that Bill Clinton may have cost Hillary Clinton the South Carolina election. It's now "Billary" for president they say. South Carolina voters didn't like the race-reversal card Clinton tried to turn. HHHMMM Hillary Clinton's Worst Nightmare: Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton’s latest comments defending his wife have turned ugly in the media. Clinton told a CNN reporter “shame on you’ after she questioned him about the ongoing dispute between his wife and Barack Obama’s campaign about playing “the race card.” Take a look.

When you listen to this and his other passionate arguments defending Hillary Clinton’s focus on the issues, you understand his logic. But because we live in a world of quick soundbites and attention grabbing headlines, the only thing the majority of the media heard today from Bill Clinton was “shame on you”. In fact, he said that as he was walking away, having talked to the reporter for several minutes.

While it’s tempting to believe that Bill Clinton would be a huge asset to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the two are out on a dangerous plank now. They would be better served to walk back to safer ground before her campaign jumps the tracks permanently. Take the news today. The headlines were not about Hillary Clinton’s plans to re-energize the economy… as Americans worry about day to day costs in a recession era. The news was not about real issues. Bill Clinton’s comments snagged the headlines once again from his wife. It’s happened before. Remenber, the “fairy tale” comment about Obama? The media pounced. While he is out on the campaign training helping rally thousands of people around his wife’s campaign, this savviest of modern presidents should know how to play the media better. In this instance, he’s not fighting for his own reputation. He and Hillary should not want him to ever be the focus of major media coverage. His passionate pleas, aggressive arguments and defensive discussions are taking the headlines away from her… at a time that she really needs positive press coverage to spread her message.

Bill Clinton, by default, could destroy his wife’s campaign by being so vocal. The media can make that happen overnight!. Hillary can’t afford for discussion in this election to be centered on anything more than the issues affecting people at home. Bill Clinton saying “shame on you” is costing the woman he tried passionately to defend.
